SSE Airtricity Premier Division – Limerick FC v Waterford FC

Waterford FC will be looking for the second win on the road when the Blues travel to the Markets Field to take on Limerick FC in the SSE Airtricity Premier Division on Friday night with a 7.45pm kick-off.
The two clubs have met in the First Division in recent years with the last meeting of the sides coming at the same venue with Limerick winning 4-0 so the Blues fans will be looking for a more favourable result on this occasion.
After wins against Shamrock Rovers in the league and UCC in the EA Sports Cup in the past week, Alan Reynolds side will go into the game against Tommy Barrett’s men full of confidence as they try continue their recent good run of form.
Speaking ahead of the trip to Limerick, Waterford FC defender Dylan Barnett said, “This is going to be another tough game for us in Limerick because games are coming thick and fast for us so it’s important that we remain focussed.
“We had a good result against UCC on Monday on the back of the league win against Shamrock Rovers. We played well, took it seriously and got the job done so hopefully that will stand to us heading into the game against Limerick.
“The result against Shamrock Rovers was amazing and it’s another step forward to where we want to get to so there’s nothing but positives to take from our season to date. It’s a massive game for us in Limerick. We’ve trained hard and recovered well so we’re all looking forward to the game.”
Also commenting ahead of the game, Garry Comerford said, “It’s a massive game against Limerick on Friday night and we’re all looking forward to it. Recovery starts not and we’ll prepare for that game like we’ve prepared for every game this season. We need to just keep the momentum going and go try take the three points. That’s what we’ll be aiming for.
“Obviously we are unbeaten at home in the league so it would be good if we were able to get our second away win after the win in Sligo. As I’ve said before we need to pick up points away in this division and that’s crucial so we’ll be aiming for that in Limerick.
“It’s great that we have the fans behind us as well. They have followed us all the way and that’s a huge thing for us as a group. They really get behind us when we need it and I saw that first hand after the disappointment in Dundalk. They are the 12th man and they’ll push us on that bit more.
“We know that Limerick will be looking to get three points in front of their own crowd. It’s a Munster derby at the end of the day and both teams will be wanting to get three points. It’s going to be an exciting game and one that we’re looking forward too.”
