SSE Airtricity Premier Division – St Patrick’s Athletic v Waterford FC
Monday, April 16, 2018
Kick Off: 7.45pm
Referee: Graham Kelly
Waterford FC will make their first return to Richmond Park since victory over St. Patrick’s Athletic in the 2009 FAI Cup when they take on Liam Buckley’s side in the SSE Airtricity Premier Division on Monday night with a 7.45pm kick-off.
After suffering a narrow 1-0 defeat on the road against Derry City on Friday last, Alan Reynolds side will be looking to pick up their second win over the saints this season after goals from Kenny Browne and Bastien Héry gave the Blues a 2-0 win.
The Blues will be without the touchline services of manager Reynolds for this game as he serves a one match touchline ban while both Héry and Stanley Aborah will also miss out through suspension as the Blues try to bounce back after Friday’s loss.
Reflecting on Friday’s game and looking forward to Monday’s fixture, Waterford FC Coach Fran Rockett said, “We did really well in the first half against Derry but just couldn’t take the couple of chances that came our way. We didn’t take those chances and they came back to kick us in the backside when we look back at things.
“The game against St Pat’s is going to be tough. They are a very good side and they’ll have the support behind them. It will be a bit like last Friday because Derry got the crowd behind them in the second half and we have higher standards then what we showed on Friday in the second 45 minutes.
“We must remain positive going into the game against St. Pat’s. We know what to expect from them and they are very good at home but we’ll be looking to put things right. We haven’t had too much to reflect on the game against Derry so hopefully we’ll be to bounce back with a win.”
TEAM NEWS: Bastien Héry and Stanley Aborah will both miss the visit to Richmond Park through suspension. Kenny Browne is also rated doubtful as he continues to recover from a rib injury while Dylan Barnett is ruled out of the game after picking up a knock in the game against Derry City.
