Waterford FC are delighted to confirm that Courtney Duffus will remain with the club for the rest of the season.
The striker, who joined from Oldham Athletic at the start of the season, has scored 10 league goals this season and has extended his loan deal.
The 22-year-old was eligible to play this Saturday’s match against Sligo Rovers from his original loan deal, and will now remain at the club for the rest of the season with Alan Reynolds’ side.
Speaking after putting pen to paper, Duffus told WaterfordFC.ie:
“I’m really happy to have it sorted and be back at the club. It was uncertain whether I would be back for the rest of the season but I always wanted to come back.
“I wanted to finish the season and get a full season under my belt especially in a place where I’m comfortable and I’m doing well so I’m happy it’s sorted. There was a lot of speculation but my decision was to come back to Waterford.”
After an excellent first half to the season, the striker is eager to continue his goalscoring form.
“The first half of the season was great with how well we’ve been doing and I really feel at home here, I enjoy working under the manager and with the rest of the players. Everyone at the club has been great and the great fans here too.
“Scoring goals is the best feeling in football for a striker so as long as it keeps happening you’re going to be happy.”
Duffus is hopeful that the Blues can continue their good season so far and keep moving forward as a club.
“We just want to keep it going for the rest of the season now – we’ve got a good squad of players and a great manager so there’s no reason why we shouldn’t be pushing on for the rest of the season.”
Manager Alan Reynolds, who this morning confirmed that Courtney would return for Saturday’s match, is delighted that the striker has put pen to paper to remain with the club.
“I was hopeful we could get the deal sorted and we have. He’s been playing well so hopefully he continues as he’s a handful for defenders.
“He’s scored some important goals this season and his all-round play has been good. We’re delighted to have him here.”
