Waterford FC are delighted to welcome Ray Power into the role of Head of Youth Development at the club.
Ray Power will look after the running of the Waterford FC Academy which currently consists of out Under-15, Under-17 and Under-19 teams. Ray takes charge of the overall development of these teams at the club and the behind the scenes work.
Ray is a UEFA A Licence coach and spent 10 years abroad working within elite academies in the U.K. and Tanzania. He is also a coach educator and the author of soccer coaching books, Making the Ball Roll and the Deliberate Soccer Practice series.
“I’ve been involved in some capacity with Waterford FC since returning to Ireland last year, so it’s a real pleasure to take up this role formally,” Ray says. “It’s a chance to bring the experience I’ve had from similar positions abroad to benefit our academy lads and the club.”
Ray takes over from Gary Power who has been with the club for many years. Gary has stepped away due to work commitments. Waterford FC would like to thank Gary for all his time, effort and work he’s put in over the past years and the club looks forward to continue working with Gary in his role as FAI Development Officer in Waterford.
