Waterford FC will look to make it back-to-back wins at the RSC this Friday with the visit of Sligo Rovers.
The Blues got back to winning ways last Friday with a 2-0 win against Bray Wanderers. Sander Puri finished Cory Galvin’s through ball in the first half to open the scoring before a clinical finish from Noel Hunt secured the points in the second half.
The win means the Blues have won 10 of 15 home league games this season and remain 4th, two points behind Shamrock Rovers.

The Blues and Sligo Rovers have played each other four times this season in all competitions. The Blues picked up three points in the first meeting between the sides in The Showgrounds, before the second meeting in April finished 1-1. The teams shared five goals in June, with Stanley Aborah, John Martin and Bastien Hery scoring in a 3-2 win. The visitors won the side’s EA Sports Cup meeting in the Showgrounds.
Speaking ahead of the game, Waterford FC manager Alan Reynolds said:
“It was great to get back to playing in the RSC in front of a noisy home crowd last week. Importantly we got the three points that I felt we deserved. We shuffled the squad around a bit and we picked up a good win. Some lads got more game time and others got a rest which after playing a lot of games this season we needed to do.
“We were able to bring in the likes of Cory Galvin for his first start since coming back to the club and I thought Sander Puri and Noel Hunt both took their goals really well. We’ve been playing well in matches over the last few weeks but just not taking our chances, so it was really pleasing to see the lads take the chances when they came.
“We’ve won twice in Sligo in the league, lost in the EA Sports Cup and drawn at home in the league early in the season too so we know what to expect. They’ve had some good results away from home beating Cork City and Limerick in the last few weeks so we have to be on our game again.”
TEAM NEWS: Waterford FC will be without David Webster who serves a one-match suspension while Derek Daly continues to miss out with a groin problem. John Martin (shin), Courtney Duffus (groin) and Bastien Hery (achilles) are all doubts.
