SSE Airtricity League Premier Division
Waterford FC -v- St Patrick’s Athletic
Friday, March 15, 2019
Kick Off: 7.45pm
Referee: Paul McLaughlin

It’s a return to the RSC this Friday evening as Waterford FC welcome St Patrick’s Athletic in the SSE Airtricity League Premier Division.

It’s been a tough start for Alan Reynolds’ side who come into this Friday’s game on the back of a 4-0 defeat away to Dundalk in Oriel Park. Despite a decent start, Dundalk pulled away late in the game to pick up all three points.

The Blues’ previous two homes games will give hope for a positive result this Friday; a last-minute 2-1 defeat against Shamrock Rovers followed by a good performance in a scoreless draw against Bohemians two weeks ago.

The sides shared the points against each other last season, both winning their homes games.

Visitors St Patrick’s Athletic have picked up eight points from their five matches so far with wins over Cork City and Sligo Rovers.

MANAGER’S VIEW: Speaking to WaterfordFC.ie ahead of Friday’s match versus St Patrick’s Athletic, manager Alan Reynolds said:

“Last week’s match in Dundalk was a tough one for us. I thought we were decent in the first half and we were on top of them looking for the first goal, but we conceded a silly goal ourselves. When you play against top opposition like Dundalk, you have to be on your game and it just takes one chance to turn a game on its head.

“The lads were disappointed after the game but we have to pick ourselves up and go again. St Pats have started the season well and have lost just once so they’ll be out to pick up points.

“Harry [Kenny] has put together a really good squad and I think they’ll be up there this season. But we know what we have to do to get the points. We’ve been training hard and we’re prepared.”

TEAM NEWS:  Shane Duggan, Izzy Akinade and Kenny Browne are doubtful and will be assessed ahead of the match.
