SSE Airtricity League Premier Division
Waterford FC -v- Cork City
Friday, April 19, 2019
Kick Off: 7.45pm
Referee: Neil Doyle

Waterford FC return to the RSC this Friday night as Cork City visit for the second Munster Derby of the season.

Alan Reynolds’ side come into the game on the back of a well-earned point in The Showgrounds on Monday, as the Blues drew 0-0 draw against Sligo Rovers.

After a busy few weeks on the road for Waterford FC, manager Alan Reynolds will be hopeful that his side can kick on from Monday’s performance for the visit of Cork City.

The sides last met back in February; goals from Bastien Hery and Zack Elbouzedi giving the Blues an excellent win over their Munster rivals in Turners Cross.

The last time these two sides met in the RSC, it was the Leesiders who took the spoils in a 2-1 victory, despite the Blues taking the lead just after the half hour through Noel Hunt.

Cork City have 11 points so far this season; the same as Waterford FC.

Managers View: Speaking to WaterfordFC.ie ahead of this weekend’s double header against Cork City and Derry City, manager Alan Reynolds said:

“It’s been a busy spell for us with three away games in a row since our last home match at the RSC, so it’ll be good to get back there this weekend.

“Monday was a deserved point in Sligo. We created some excellent chances and could have won the game on the night. It was important we got something from the game and kept a clean sheet and we did that well. We made some changes from the previous game and lads are now starting to really compete for places.

“The busy schedule sees us play two games this weekend again with Cork City the first visitors to the RSC on Friday before Derry City on Monday. Cork were beaten by a late goal last Monday so they’ll be looking to put that behind them. But we were excellent down in Turners Cross at the start of the season and we thoroughly deserved the three points. That’s the kind of performance we’re going to need again to look for the three points.”
