Alan Reynolds’ side come into the game on the back of an excellent win and three points against Cork City on Friday at the RSC; a win to build on last Monday’s point picked up in Sligo.

Shane Duggan’s 25-yard strike gave Waterford FC the lead before a breakaway goal from Zack Elbouzedi secured the Blues’ second victory over Cork this season.

The Blues and Derry City last met back in February; Monday’s visitors running out 3-2 winners in the Ryan McBride Brandywell Stadium.

The side last met in the RSC back in May when goals from Rory Feely, Izzy Akinade, Sander Puri and Stanley Aborah saw Waterford comfortably take all three points.

Derry City are currently sitting 4th in the league and have 20 points so far this season while Waterford FC are 6th with 14 points on the board.

Managers View: Speaking to WaterfordFC.ie ahead of this Monday’s clash with Derry City, manager Alan Reynolds said:

“I think that ranks up there as one of our best performances this season [against Cork City]. I thought in the second half of the game there was only one winner.

“Monday offers something different again with Derry City in really good form at the moment. Declan is doing a good job up there and they have quality players. They lost narrowly on Friday but they’re well up there. We competed well against them away from home earlier in the season so we need a good performance again on Monday to match how we played against Cork.

“We picked up a couple of knocks on Friday night so we might need to rearrange a few things but we’ve good players to step in if needed; they all can’t wait to get back on the pitch after Friday’s performance.”

Team News: Alan Reynolds has doubts over Bastien Hery, Kenny Browne, Aaron Simpson and Izzy Akinade.
