SSE Airtricity League Premier Division
Waterford FC -v- Bohemians
Friday, April 26, 2019
Kick Off: 7.45pm
Referee: Graham Kelly
Waterford FC are back on the road this Friday night with a trip to Dalymount Park to take on Bohemians.
After a hard-fought point on Monday afternoon, Alan Reynolds’ side will be hoping to build on recent positive results as they face the North Dublin club.
A late Shane Duggan penalty on Monday afternoon earned a point against Derry City, despite the Blues going behind twice.
David Parkhouse had Derry City leading at half-time before Izzy Akinade levelled. Darren Cole again had the visitors in the lead but Duggan’s penalty earned a point. That followed Friday’s excellent 2-0 win over Cork City at the RSC.
Bohemians come into the game on the back of a 1-0 victory over league leaders Shamrock Rovers on Tuesday night.
The sides last met back in March, playing out a 0-0 draw in the RSC, while it was the Blues who prevailed with all three points the last time the sides met in Dalymount Park.
After last weekend’s fixtures, Waterford FC sit in 6th position in the league; while Bohemians move up to second, five points off the leaders.
Managers View: Speaking ahead of Friday’s visit to Bohemians, manager Alan Reynolds said:
“I think we’ve got to be happy with the point [versus Derry City]. It was a rollercoaster of a game at the end so to get the equalising goal with the penalty was great. We needed that because it’s been a crazy few days.
“I thought from our second half performance, we deserved to get something from the game. It was tough going on both sets of players the way the weather was, especially after both teams having tough games on Friday.
“We’ve had a busy few weeks but we have to go again this Friday and Monday. We saw Bohs won earlier in the week against Shamrock Rovers so they’ll be full of confidence, but we’ve done well in the last few games against Sligo, Cork and Derry so our lads are confident, too. We’ve still a few lads with some knocks but others are ready to step in and we’ll go there to play and show what we’re about.”
Team News: Kenny Browne, Dean Walsh, and Kevin Lynch missed Monday’s game and continue to miss out. Karolis Chvedukas also misses out while Bastien Hery is rated 50/50 after coming off on Monday.
