SSE Airtricity League Premier Division
Finn Harps -v- Waterford FC
Friday, May 17, 2019
Kick Off: 8pm
Referee: Paul McLaughlin
Waterford FC are back on the road this Friday as Alan Reynolds’ side make the long trip to Donegal to face Finn Harps.
The Blues come into the game after an enthralling 3-3 draw at home to Sligo Rovers last Saturday, to follow up the win at St Pats the previous week.
Sligo Rovers took the lead through Kris Twardek but the Blues were in front at the break through Cory Galvin and a Mitchel Beeney own goal. Sligo turned the game when Ronan Coughlan and Romeo Parkes made it 3-2 but Izzy Akinade struck with 10 minutes left to make it 3-3.
Waterford FC picked up all three points against Finn Harps when the sides met in the RSC in March; goals from Aaron Drinan (2), Shane Duggan and Dean Walsh securing a 4-0 win.
Finn Harps sit 13 points behind the Blues in the Premier Division table.
Managers View: Speaking ahead of Friday’s match against Finn Harps, manager Alan Reynolds said:
“We were a bit disappointed with the draw last weekend. We’d done really well the previous week to keep the clean sheet and beat St Pats but then we concede three at home and don’t pick up the win.
“Friday will be different. When we played Finn Harps at home a few months back it was a physical game and I can’t see it being any different up there. They’ll be in our faces but it’s up to us to get the job done.
“They’ll look to make it difficult for us but we need to play our game, adapt to the conditions and go to win the three points.”
Team News: Alan Reynolds remains without Kenny Browne, Kevin Lynch and Dean Walsh. Zack Elbouzedi is very doubtful with a knee injury.
