SSE Airtricity League Premier Division
Waterford FC -v- UCD
Friday, May 24, 2019
Kick Off: 7.45pm
Referee: Robert Hennessy

Waterford FC return to the RSC this Friday night as UCD visit for the second meeting of the sides this season.

The Blues go into the game on the back of a disappointing 3-2 loss to Finn Harps last weekend. Aaron Drinan and a late Damien Delaney goal looked to have rescued a point for Alan Reynolds’ side in Finn Park but Sean Boyd snatched all three points in the final minutes.

Waterford FC picked up three points the last time the sides met in the RSC back in 2017; the Blues winning 1-0 on the way to the First Division title. The Blues and UCD met back in April as the Students ran out 4-1 winners in the UCD Bowl.

Managers View: Speaking ahead of Friday’s match, manager Alan Reynolds said:

“Last week was disappointing to come away from Finn Harps with nothing. We started really well but we let them come back into the game and they took advantage.

“We worked hard to equalise because they got a lot of players behind the ball in the second half but we just need to be better to see out the game and get something from it. When we equalised we wanted to push to try win the game and they caught us out, so we’re disappointed.

“But we have to lift ourselves. We spoke after that game and we’ve had a good week of training behind us since then. The players were hurting especially when you see the fans had made that long journey to support us.

“UCD have given us some tough games over the past few seasons so we’re expecting the same again. Collie has done a good job with the club and they look to play good football so we’ll have to be on top of our game to get the points.”

Team News: Zack Elbouzedi has recovered from the knee injury that saw him miss last week’s match against Finn Harps and is available for selection again. Aaron Drinan is a doubt with a hamstring problem but Kenny Browne, Kevin Lynch and Dean Walsh continue to miss out. Shane Duggan is suspended.
