SSE Airtricity League Premier Division
Waterford FC -v- Bohemians
Friday, June 28, 2019
Kick Off: 7.45pm
Referee: Paul McLaughlin
Waterford FC return to Premier Division action this Friday night as Bohemians make the trip to the RSC.
After an extended break, which has seen Alan Reynolds’ side not play a league match for five week, he’ll be hoping to kick start the second half of the campaign with a positive performance on Friday.
Last time out in the league, the Blues picked up a deserved three points after a 1-0 win over UCD in the RSC, thanks to a first half goal from Zack Elbouzedi.
The Blues also advanced to the semi final of the EA SPORTS Cup with a 1-0 win away to Bray Wanderers; Scott Twine, who recently returned to Swindon Town, scored the only goal with a well-taken free kick.
The sides last met back in April where an entertaining tie in Dalymount saw the two sides play out their second 0-0 draw of the season.
The Blues’ last victory over Bohemians came at the tail end of the 2018 season, as Alan Reynolds side deservedly won 3-1 in Dalymount Park.
Manager View: Speaking ahead of Friday’s match, manager Alan Reynolds said:
“It’s great to be back playing again after such a long spell without a competitive game. The players got a break and they’ve been back since last week working hard and preparing, and they’re looking forward to the Bohs game.
“We’ve played Bohs twice this season and they’ve both been scoreless so there hasn’t been much between us so far, but we know they’re third in the table and having a good season. The break has allowed us to get some players back from injury so there’s plenty of opportunity for players to nail down a starting spot for the run of games to come.”
Team News: Zack Elbouzedi misses out as he recovers from injury picked up on international duty. Kevin Lynch had returned to training but another setback has ruled him out. Kenny Browne is a doubt while Georgie Poynton has a one-match suspension after an accumulation of yellow cards.
