SSE Airtricity League Premier Division
Waterford FC -v- Shamrock Rovers
Monday, August 19th, 2019
Kick Off: 8pm
Referee: Robert Harvey
Waterford FC return to the RSC this Monday with second-place Shamrock Rovers the visitors in the SSE Airtricity League Premier Division.
The Blues had a disappointing 2-1 defeat at the RSC on Friday night. A late JJ Lunney goal saw the Blues press for an equaliser but Cork held on to win 2-1 and condemn the Blues to defeat.
And the games continue to come thick and fast.
The sides have met twice this season already with Shamrock Rovers winning both; but it took a late, late Rovers goal to win 2-1 at the RSC at the start of the season.
The Blues then travel to Donegal to face Glengad United in the FAI Cup on Saturday before facing Shamrock Rovers again next Tuesday in Tallaght Stadium.
Managers View: Speaking to WaterfordFC.ie ahead of Monday’s match, manager Alan Reynolds said:
“Shamrock Rovers are pushing Dundalk at the top of the table for a reason so it offers another challenge to us with the two games in short succession [after Friday’s defeat].
“We were disappointed with Friday but we have to switch focus to Monday straight away. We trained this morning (Sunday) and we’re happy to have another game straight away.
“It was a tight game here earlier in the season but they had a good win over Derry [at the weekend] so we have to be ready for what they’ll throw at us.
“We have Shane [Duggan] back from suspension but have a few knocks from Friday so we’ll see how the lads are fixed on Monday.”
Team News: Zack Elbouzedi, Will Fitzgerald and Michael O’Connor are expected to miss the game through injury. Shane Duggan returns from suspension.
