Extra.ie FAI Cup Second Round
Glengad United -v- Waterford FC
Saturday, August 24th, 2019
Kick Off: 5pm
Referee: Damien MacGrath

Waterford FC return to cup action this weekend as the Blues travel to Donegal to face Glengad United in the second round of this year’s Extra.ie FAI Cup.

After disappointing results against Cork City and Shamrock Rovers last weekend, Alan Reynolds will be hoping his side can bounce back as they head for north Donegal.

Opponents Glengad United beat Home Farm in the preliminary stages before they saw off the challenge of St Michael’s from Tipperary in the last round.

The Blues’ last outing in the FAI Cup saw a 2-0 win against Maynooth University Town as goals from Shane Duggan and Kenny Browne made sure the Blues progressed.

Managers View: Speaking to WaterfordFC.ie ahead of this weekend’s cup action against Glengad United, manager Alan Reynolds said:

“Of course we’re disappointed with the results last weekend but we’re looking forward to Saturday. The Cup is always a nice distraction and we’re aiming to push ourselves and get into a good run of performances.

“We saw from the Maynooth game that we have to be patient and keep playing our game and we’ll get the chances. Glengad have earned their place in the Second Round after a win over a good St Michael’s team so we’ll be taking nothing for granted.

“We’ve regrouped during the week and we’re looking forward to having a chance to bounce back this weekend. A good result will help us find some confidence with a trip to face Shamrock Rovers on Tuesday.

Team News: Zack Elbouzedi, Dean Walsh and Karolis Chvedukas miss out.
