SSE Airtricity League Premier Division
Shamrock Rovers -v- Waterford FC
Tuesday, August 27th, 2019
Kick Off: 8pm
Referee: Derek Tomney

Waterford FC are on the road again this Tuesday with a trip to Tallaght Stadium to face Shamrock Rovers in the SSE Airtricity League Premier Division.

The Blues got back to winning ways at the weekend with a 2-0 win away to Glengad United in the FAI Cup second round in Buncrana. With much of the possession and chances, goals from Michael O’Connor and Cory Galvin ensured a quarter final spot was picked up.

The Blues’ trip to Tallaght in the league follows last week’s defeat at home to Shamrock Rovers in the RSC; a game where Stephen Bradley’s took all three points.

Following Tuesday’s game, the Blues will face Derry City at the RSC on Friday before a trip to Cork next Monday.

Manager View: Speaking to WaterfordFC.ie ahead of Tuesday’s trip to Dublin, manager Alan Reynolds said:

“Saturday in Donegal was always going to be a tricky one but we were patient like we knew we’d need to be and deservedly got the win and look forward to the next round.

“The games keep coming but we need to keep focus on the next one, we can’t look ahead to the weekend yet and we’ll be looking to put in a good performance on Tuesday.

“Shamrock Rovers is another big challenge after the long trip on Saturday but we’re looking forward to it. They’re trying to win the league so we have to try match them on the pitch, work hard, not give away sloppy goals and look to make some chances.

“We know we’ll have plenty of support there too and that’ll help us. We’ll switch things around again after the weekend and give lads a chance to impress.”

Team News: Dean Walsh, Zack Elbouzedi, Rory Feely and Kenny Browne miss out through injury.
