Tunnock’s Caramel Wafer Challenge Cup
Stenhousemuir FC -v- Waterford FC
Friday, October 11th, 2019
Kick Off: 7:35pm (Live on BBC Alba)

Waterford FC are on their travels this week with a trip to Scotland to face Stenhousemuir FC this Friday (live on BBC Alba).

The 4th-round Tunnock’s Caramel Wafer Challenge Cup tie in Ochilview Park is the fruits of the Blues 3-1 home win over Hearts Colts in the previous round.

The Blues are in good form domestically with another three points on Tuesday night after a 2-0 win against Sligo Rovers and will be looking to progress further in the competition when they meet their Scottish League Two opposition on Friday.

The Blues will be without a number of the Academy players who played in the previous round as they look ahead to their national semi-final at home to Drogheda United next weekend.

Manager Views: Speaking to WaterfordFC.ie ahead of Friday’s match, manager Alan Reynolds said:

“We’re all looking forward to the trip. We’ve been in good form of late and had another good performance and win on Tuesday night [against Sligo Rovers] so everybody is raring to go again.

“Like the previous round against Hearts, the match offers the club, coaches and players something different in terms of opposition, venue and competition and it’s something they’re looking forward to being involved in again.

“We’d hoped to be able to bring a lot of the young Academy players who played in the last round but they’re preparing for their national semi-final next weekend so we didn’t want to risk them, but they have a massive game coming up so they’re focussing on that.”

Team News: Zack Elbouzedi is on international duty with the Republic of Ireland U21s. Kenny Browne continues to miss out through injury.
