Waterford FC is delighted to announce that Dean Walsh, Shane Griffin and John Martin have re-signed for the 2020 season.
The exciting young players will look to build on last season’s experience on the pitch and whilst on loan away from the RSC.
Walsh, 22, saw his 2019 season disrupted by injury but is looking forward to getting started again in 2020.
“I’m delighted to sign back again for the season. It’s great to get sorted and I’m looking forward to starting pre-season after Christmas.
“I thought I was a bit unlucky last season with a few injuries so I’m really looking to kick on this season. I know I can score goals and hopefully I can repay that faith in me again this season.
Midfielder Shane Griffin spent the second half of last season on loan with Wexford FC gaining valuable first-team experience.
“It’s great to be back for 2020. Last season was important for me to get lots of game time and I got that at Wexford. But I’m really happy to be back with the club here for next season.
“I want to push on and really show what I can do and earn a place for myself. I know it won’t be easy but I’m determined to push on and fight for a place.”
Exciting attacking midfielder John Martin re-signs after spending the second half of last season with Bray Wanderers, including scoring a wonder goals from the half-way line against Wexford FC.
“I’m delighted to be back with the Blues for 2020. Obviously it’s a different situation to last year with the buzz of playing European football but I know we’ll be ready to push for a big season and surprise a few.
“Last year was massive for me to get a run of games in the First Division with Bray Wanderers and really improve my physical side of the game. I feel really good now and can’t wait to get going.”
Speaking to WaterfordFC.ie Blues Manager, Alan Reynolds said:
“It is great to get the three boys signed back for next season. They are three great young players, and I’m delighted to have secured their services for 2020.
“I sent John and Griffo (Shane Griffin), out on loan last season to Bray and Wexford respectively, and both have developed over their time down there.
“Dean Walsh was unlucky last season with injuries, but I’m delighted to have him signed back with us for next season. He scored what turned out to be a massive goal for us against UCD last year, so we know what he has in him.”
