MATCH PREVIEW: Waterford FC -v- Finn Harps (23/08/2020)
SSE Airtricity League Premier Division
Waterford FC -v- Finn Harps
Sunday, 23rd August 2020
Kick-Off: 2pm
Referee: Sean Grant
Waterford FC return to league action this Sunday afternoon when the Blues face off against Finn Harps in the RSC.
Two second-half goals for Sligo last Tuesday saw the Blues slip to their first defeat since returning to action after Michael O’Connor had given the Blues an early lead.
It was Harps who ran out winners the last time these sides met back in October. A single goal in Finn Park was enough for Ollie Horgan’s side to take all three points.
The sides last played in the RSC back in July 2019 when the Donegal side ran out 1-0 winners after Joshua Smith gave them an early lead.
Managers View: Speaking ahead of Sunday’s match against Finn Harps, manager John Sheridan said
“I was disappointed with how we conceeded on Tuesday evening and it’s something we’ll have to look at.
“I felt we played well in the first half of the game and really dominated. It’s something that will give us confidence ahead of Sunday’s game against Harps.
“They’ll come down hungry for three points and will be looking to take something off us. They done well down here last year and we’re looking to put a stop to that. We want to get ourselves back on track and take the three points.”
Team News: Shane Griffin returns from injury while Ali Coote has served his one-match suspension. Sam Bone is a doubt after injury picked up against Sligo Rovers on Tuesday.
