Waterford FC -v- Treaty United FC

Tuesday, 2nd March, 2021

Kick-Off: 19:00

Waterford FC welcomes First Division newcomers Treaty United FC to the WIT Arena this evening as the Blues continue preparation for the league start this month.

In what seems to have been an age since the Blues narrowly missed out on a European spot, the new management team have wasted no time in putting together a much younger, energetic squad, while retaining the experience and leadership of Brian and Daryl Murphy.

Tonight is the first of three friendlies scheduled over the next two weeks with Cork City FC visiting the RSC on Saturday the 6th of March. Wexford FC then travel to Waterford the following Saturday, the 13th of March.

The game marks Treaty United FC’s first and Tommy Barrett’s 26-man side will look to start their pre-season with a statement in what will be a great test for his new side.

Managers View: “We’ve worked very hard over the last few weeks to bring in players we feel have great potential to excite the fans and get results for us.

“We’ve had some heavy training sessions over the last 3 weeks and there’s a marked improvement in terms of fitness. So we feel the heavy workload has paid off.

“Tonight is the first of three tests for the lads so we’re really looking forward to seeing how the lads get on. Every place is up for grabs.

“The result will not be our focus for any of the friendlies, we just want to see the lads produce what we’ve worked on the training ground and their ability to link with each other on the pitch.”

Team News: There are no injuries to any squad member. The management team will have a full selection for this evenings fixture.
