Waterford FC makes the trip to Louth this Friday night to Kick-off their 2021 league season against Drogheda United FC. They will head north with confidence after an encouraging win against Wexford at the weekend that gave the new management their first win of the campaign.
Drogheda make their return to the premier division after a very impressive 2020 season which saw them win the league of Ireland first division title. They have been busy in the off-season assembling a side that can compete in there new surroundings. Drogs manager Tim Clancy has added players with a wealth of premier division experience such as Dane Massey, Gary Deegan and Dinny Corcoran to his youthful side, as well as quality attackers in the form of Ronan Murray and Darragh Markey.
The Blues are in for a tough test but will head up the M9 quietly confident they can return with their first points of the 2021 Airtricity League season.
Managers View:
“Looking forward to getting going. We’ve learned a lot from the Cork and Wexford games about some of our strengths and weaknesses and spent the week ironing those out. We’ll travel tomorrow knowing we’ve prepared ourselves for the challenge so we’re really looking forward to it.”
Injuries: Darragh Power misses out after picking up a light strain to his hamstring, otherwise, Kevin will have a full squad to choose from.
