Waterford FC manager Ian Morris has confirmed his backroom team for the 2022 season.
Former Blues defender David Breen and former Academy coach Gary Hunt have joined as first team coaches for the season. Breen is no stranger to the League of Ireland with experience as a player and coach, while Hunt managed the Blues U19s to the league title in 2019, along with managerial experience in the Women’s National League.
Experienced goalkeeper coach Dirk Heinen returns for 2022 while Shane Nolan continues as analyst. Richy Walsh and legendary kitman Michael Walsh continue in their roles, along with physio Derek O’Neill. Joey O’Brien and Jamie Dalton lead the Strength & Conditioning program.
Speaking to WaterfordFC.ie, manager Ian Morris said:
“I am delighted with the backroom staff at the club. David Breen and Gary Hunt are fantastic coaches who both know the club inside out. Dirk Heinen is one of the top goalkeeper coaches around. His knowledge and experience is great for the group.
“Shane Nolan will continue as our analyst, Derek O’Neill as physio, Richy and Michael Walsh as kitmen, and Joey O’Brien and Jamie Dalton will lead our S&C program.
“We are nearing the end of week two of pre-season and we are really pleased where we are at the moment. Everyone has clicked instantly and we are all here for the same thing; to help Waterford FC get back to where we belong.”
