SSE Airtricity First Division
Treaty United -v- Waterford FC
Friday, 25th March, 2022
Kick-Off: 7:45pm
Referee: Gavin Colfer

Waterford FC are back in action this Friday night as the Blues travel to Markets Field to take on Treaty United.

Ian Morris’ side suffered a first defeat of the season in our most recent outing two weeks ago. Two first-half goals saw Cork take all three points in Turners Cross.

That ended the early unbeaten run but the Blues have amassed 10 points from the opening five matches, with wins over Athlone Town, Wexford and Bray Wanderers.

Home side Treaty United come into the game on the back of a 4-0 defeat at home to Cork City last Friday night.

This will be the sides first meeting in league action. The sides met in February in the Munster Senior Cup; Tommy Barrett’s side winning 2-0 in UL.

In our last five games, we have scored 10 goals while Treaty have scored eight in the same period. The Blues currently sit in third spot in league standings after five games.

Manager View: Speaking ahead of Friday’s match against Treaty United, manager Ian Morris said:

“We can’t wait for the game on Friday. Last week with no game has given us the chance to let a couple of lads with knocks or illness recover.

“Treaty will be wanting to overturn their last couple of results, so I’ll expect Tommy to have them prepared well and raring to go.

“We have Kilian back in with us this week and hope to have him back in the coming weeks. It’s a huge boost to the group having him back around. We have prepared really well, and we are expecting a big performance in front of our fantastic travelling fans.”

Team News: Kilian Cantwell has returned to training. Richard Taylor is suspended.
