Kick-Off: 7:45 pm
Referee: Eoghan O’Shea

Waterford FC are on the road on Friday evening as the Blues take on Cobh Ramblers in St. Colman’s Park.

A stoppage-time goal on Friday night saw the Blues take a deserved point having gone behind in the first half.

Longford took the lead on 36 minutes when Shane Elworthy scored after a scramble in the box. The Blues had to wait until the dying seconds of the second half to secure a point. A Junior Quitirna corner was met by the head of Louis Britton who made no mistake in finding the back of the net.

Cobh come into the game on the back of a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Galway United. A Killian Brouder goal just after 60 minutes was enough to hand Cobh their third loss in five games.

The sides haven’t met competitively since 2017, when Cobh ran out 2-1 winners in St. Colman’s Park.

Blues currently sit in third place in the league; Cobh Ramblers currently sit in 8th place.

Manager View: Speaking ahead of Friday’s match against Cobh Ramblers, manager Ian Morris said:

“We deserved our point last week and were happy to get it. We forced their keeper into some good saves and hit the woodwork in the second half and we felt the equaliser was deserved.

“Cobh is always a tricky place to go. It’s a tight pitch down there but we are raring to go and looking forward to the game.”

Team News: Kilian Cantwell and Anthony Wordsworth miss out through injury. Tunmise Sobowale serves an additional one match suspension.
