Waterford FC is delighted to announce the signing of Tom Donaghy on loan from sister club Fleetwood Town.

The young goalkeeper linked up with his Blues teammates this week ahead of Friday’s league opener in Wexford.

Leeds-born Donaghy was with Bradford City as a scholar from 16-18 years of age, before joining Fleetwood Town. Donaghy has first team experience on loan at National League North side, Farsley Celtic; keeping five clean sheets in a row during his spell at the club in 2022.

Donaghy joins Barry Baggley and Chris Conn-Clarke on loan at the Blues from sister club Fleetwood Town.

Speaking to WaterfordFC.ie, Tom said:

“I’m really looking forward to it. It’s a good opportunity for myself. I know about the club from Fleetwood and I know Barry [Baggley] and Chris [Conn-Clarke] so it’ll be good to see a few familiar faces.

“My goal is to get into the team and stay in the team, that’s why I’m here. I’m mid-season in Fleetwood so I’m match fit which will hopefully help me with the club.

“It’s all about fighting for a place in the team and that’s what I’m going to do. I’ve heard really good things about the club and can’t wait to get started this week.”
