Wexford FC 0-3 Waterford FC
A Wassim Aouachria hat-trick helped Waterford FC begin the 2023 season with a 3-0 win away to Wexford FC in Ferrycarrig Park.
Two first-half goals Aouachria had the Blues in front at the break before the striker secured the win with a third in the second half.
The match was only four minutes in when the Blues took the lead. Tunmise Sobowale and Roland Idowu linked up down the right to find the run of Aouachria and his powerful effort couldn’t be kept out by keeper Colm Cox.
The excellent start continued when the lead was doubled after 12 minutes. Idowu was again involved as he brilliantly crossed from the right to find the run of Aouachria to finish from close range.
Paul Martin saved from Jordan Adeyemo before Conor Levingston was off target for the home side.
The Blues sealed all three points after the break with a third from Aouachria; the striker collecting the ball from Barry Baggley’s ball before holding off Hugh Douglas before brilliantly curling the ball beyond Cox for his hat-trick and an opening day win.
