SSE Airtricity First Division
Waterford FC -v- Bray Wanderers
Saturday, 18th March 2023
Kick-Off: 3pm
Referee: David Connolly

Waterford FC will look to make it back-to-back wins with the visit of Bray Wanderers to the RSC on Saturday afternoon (KO 3pm) – TICKETS ON SALE HERE.

A Shane Griffin free-kick after 14 minutes proved crucial against Athlone Town as the Blues ran out 1-0 winners last Friday night in the Athlone Town Stadium.

The sides last meeting came last September when the Blues were 3-0 winners, with the sides last encounter in the Carlisle Ground. First half goals from Richard Taylor and Phoenix Patterson saw the Blues lead at the interval before a trademark Shane Griffin strike midway through the second half ensured all three points.

The hosts come into the game sitting a point ahead of the Blues in the league table after a 0-0 draw with Longford last weekend. The Blues currently sit in 4th place in the league standing on 7 points.

From The Dugout: Speaking ahead of Saturday’s match against Bray Wanderers, head coach Danny Searle said:

“Last season there was only a goal separating the sides in the clashes at the RSC and we know Ian has assembled a very good squad so we’ll have to be at our best.

“They’re playing well and are unbeaten in their opening four matches so we can’t be complacent.

“It’s been a busy few weeks and we have plenty more to play this month and we’re looking forward to getting back on the pitch. Last week was all about getting more points on the board. We have a target for each series of matches and that’s what we’re still aiming towards.”

Team News: Matthew Connor is continuing his recovery from injury.
