SSE Airtricity First Division
Cobh Ramblers -v- Waterford FC
Friday, 7th April 2023
Kick-Off: 7.45pm
Referee: Gavin Colfer

Waterford FC will look to make it back-to-back wins on Friday evening with a trip to St. Colman’s Park to take on Cobh Ramblers.

The Blues come into the game on the back of a comprehensive 7-1 win over Finn Harps last Friday night in the RSC. A brace from Roland Idowu along with goals from Kilian Cantwell, Ronan Coughlan, Connor Parsons, Giles Philips and an own goal ensured Keith Long’s tenure as head coach started with an emphatic win.

The sides last meeting came back in September when the Blues ran out comfortable 3-1 winners in the RSC, while the Blues claimed all three points in an impressive 5-0 victory on our last visit to St. Colman’s Park.

The Blues have won the last four fixtures between the two teams, while the sides have produced six draws since 2013.

The hosts come into the game sitting in second place, three points ahead of the Blues in fourth spot, with a game extra played.

From The Dugout: Speaking ahead of Friday’s match against Cobh Ramblers, Head Coach Keith Long said:

“We’re really looking forward to the challenge on Friday night. Cobh have had a great start to the season and have done very well with an experienced manager and backroom team so it’ll be a very difficult place to go. We need to perform to our very best if we want to get something from the game.

“Last week was a great start coming into the club. The players have been very receptive and have worked extremely hard this week and we’re looking to build on that performance, and improve week to week as a group.

“Off the field, it was fantastic to bring Alan [Reynolds] back to the club. We know it was a difficult decision for Alan to make to come back home but we’re grateful to Derry City, Ruaidhrí Higgins and everyone at Derry city for their understanding and empathy to the situation.”

Team News: Matthew Connor continues to miss out through injury, with Chris Conn-Clarke and Darragh Power also ruled out.
