Waterford FC -v- Kerry FC

Kick-Off: 7.45pm

Waterford FC look to make it three wins on the bounce on Friday night as Keith Long’s Blues welcome Kerry FC to the RSC.
The Blues come into the game on the back of a 3-1 win over Cobh Ramblers on Friday night in St. Colman’s Park.
Keith Long’s side raced to a two-goal lead on Friday night in the opening 12 minutes thanks to goals from Roland Idowu and Ronan Coughlan. The home side pulled one back through Jack Doherty midway through the second half before a smart Shane Griffin finish sealed the points and successive wins.
The visitors make their first trip to the RSC after a 1-1 draw at home to Finn Harps last weekend. Sean McGrath gave Billy Dennehy’s side the lead after 36 minutes, but a Ryan Flood goal midway through the second half denied the home side a first win of the season.
The Blues sit in third place in the league with 14 points, while Kerry sit at the foot of the table on two points.
From The Dugout: Speaking ahead of Friday’s match against Kerry FC, Head Coach Keith Long said:
“We scored two great goals in the first half and that set us on the right track. Cobh hit the bar twice and we’ve cleared one off the line so we know we have areas we need to work on to improve.
“We’re looking forward to getting back to the RSC and we want to try to get as many people in as we can to watch their football team play.
“The players have been very receptive to what we have asked them to do so far and have worked extremely hard on the training ground to try to improve performance. We have had a good start but we are very much a work in progress. I believe there is growth in this group and hopefully we can continue to improve in the weeks and months ahead.”
Team News: Matthew Connor continues to miss out through injury but has returned to light training, while Darragh Power returned to training following injury.
