The Blues come into the game on the back of a 1-0 defeat on Monday afternoon at the hands of Wexford FC. An Aaron Dobbs goal after eight minutes proved decisive in the game, as the Blues failed to break down a resilient Wexford defence.

Keith Long’s side have been in good form, however, winning six consecutive games before Monday’s defeat.

Monday also saw Galway suffer their first defeat of the season as John Caulfield’s side slipped to a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Longford Town.

The sides last met back in March in the RSC, with the Tribesmen coming out on top thanks to a goal from Vincent Borden midway through the first half.

The hosts come into the game topping the table, while the Blues sit seven points behind in second place.

From The Dugout: Speaking ahead of Friday’s match against Galway United, head coach Keith Long said:

“We were a little bit flat [against Wexford]. We didn’t probe enough although we did have some chances but probably not enough to work the goalkeeper in the game. We know we have to stop conceding goals, it was a poor goal to concede and we probably didn’t have the guile to break them down after that.

“We’ve regrouped. We’ve been in good form [before Monday’s defeat] and we have got ourselves ready for Friday [v Galway] because we know it’s going to be a big game.”

Team News: Ryan Burke (suspension), Kilian Cantwell (illness) and Shane Griffin (injury) are all back available after missing Monday’s match.
