Waterford FC are delighted to announce new full-time roles have been created as part of the club’s long-term plans.

Chairman Andy Pilley’s pledge to grow the club on and off the field has seen the appointment of a Head of Community and Operations Executive.

Joining as Operations Executive Richy Walsh, a well-known face around the RSC following years as the club’s kit man.

And the Blues are also delighted to welcome Colin Power as Head of Community.

Power, a Waterford man, has been volunteering at the club in and around the community for a number of years and has now joined formally on a full-time role.

He will be tasked with building a community project that aims to provide socially inclusive community, health and education engagement programmes which aim to make a difference to the lives of people within our communities.

On the appointments, Pilley said: “We are absolutely delighted to bring Colin and Richy in on a full-time basis, it’s important we grow the club off the pitch as well as on it.

“I’ve made no secret that we have huge plans for the club going forward and these appointments are another step towards that.

“Colin is someone who’s been working hard for the club for a number of years on a voluntary basis and we are delighted to be able to reward him with this role.

“More importantly it will allow us to make a real positive impact in the community – something which is hugely important to me and the club.

“In Richy, we have someone who knows the club inside out, his grandfather Michael is a club legend, and we are delighted to have them both on board.

“What’s important to me is we have Waterford people at the heart of Waterford Football Club.”

The club have also this week seen the departure of Technical Director Jonathan Walters following an announcement on Sunday evening.

And Pilley added: “We’d like to thank Jonathan for his hard work and professionalism during his short time with the club.

“He was brought in at a time where we had a real lack of knowledge of Irish football, something which he helped with greatly.

“The Technical Director role is one we won’t be replacing at the moment. We are very happy with the management team we now have in place and in Keith Long and Alan Reynolds feel we have both the experience and knowledge to drive the football side of the club forward.”
