SSE Airtricity First Division
Waterford FC -v- Treaty United
Friday, 2nd June 2023
Kick-Off: 7.45pm
Referee: Daniel Murphy
Waterford FC welcome Treaty United to the RSC on Friday night as the Blues kick-start a busy weekend of football.
Keith Long’s side then make the trip to Mounthawk Park to face Kerry FC on Monday afternoon.
The Blues came into the game on the back of a scoreless draw on Saturday evening against Longford Town in Bishopsgates. Despite controlling large portions of the game, the Blues couldn’t find a way through a resilient Longford defense.
The last meeting between the Blues and Treaty United back in April saw Keith Long’s side run out comfortable 4-1 winners in the Markets Field. A Ronan Coughlan hat-trick and a Ryan Burke goal secured the points. Treaty’s last visit to the RSC came at the end of last season, when the sides played out a 3-3 draw in the playoff-semi finals.
The Blues have only lost once to the Limerick side in seven fixtures against them, winning five and drawing once.
The visitors come into the game in 6th place, 14 points behind the Blues in second place.
From The Dugout: Speaking ahead of Friday’s match against Treaty United, head coach Keith Long said:
“We are looking for improvement in performance levels and to be consistent in terms of our displays. We have plenty of work to do in that regard but I believe we are getting better and there is growth within this group.
“Tommy [Barrett]’s teams are always well organised and difficult to beat and I have no doubt tonight’s game will be a keenly contested affair and we know we have to produce a really good performance to affect the outcome in a positive manner.”
Team News: Dean McMenamy, Harvey Warren and Darragh Power miss out through injury. Wassim Aouachria remains a doubt. Niall O’Keeffe is suspended for an accumulation of five yellow cards.
