The Blues made it two wins from two over the bank holiday on Monday with a 1-0 win away to Wexford FC. Keith Long’s side dominated for large parts of the bank holiday trip to Ferrycarrig Park and Eddie Nolan headed home the winner from Connor Parsons’ corner kick to ensure the points.

That win followed last Friday’s success at the RSC. Connor Parsons, Roland Idowu and Ronan Coughlan were all on the scoresheet in a 3-0 win against Kerry FC.

The sides have met twice this season already with little separating the teams; visitors Galway winning by a single goal in both clashes so far; the most recent a 2-1 scoreline in May in Eamonn Deacy Park.

Visitors Galway come into Friday’s game after a 3-0 win at home to Treaty United on Friday night.

The Blues remain second in the table, while Galway are first.

From The Dugout: Speaking ahead of Friday’s match, head coach Keith Long said:

“Monday was a really good result for us [v Wexford]. It was a tough game against tough opposition. It was a great corner from Connor Parsons and Eddie Nolan showed great desire to get to it and that gave us something to see out the game with. That’s two clean sheets in a row now too and that’s really important.

“We’ve got some really talented players in this group and we’re working hard to make sure we’re really positive with how we play. These two wins give us a nice lift going into Friday’s game now. It’ll be another really tough game against good level opposition. We have Galway on Friday and then Cork the following week so it’s important that we’ve given ourselves a good base to go try to play better.”

Team News: Harry Nevin, Dean McMenamy, Shane Griffin and Darragh Power all continue to miss out through injury.
