Kick-Off: 7.45pm
Referee: Declan Toland
Waterford FC return to the RSC to face Cobh Ramblers this Friday looking to build on last week’s win in Donegal.
Tickets can be purchased here now.
Last Friday night saw the Blues come away from Donegal with three points after a 4-0 win. Darragh Power, Cameron Cresswell and Dean McMenamy (2) were all on the scoresheet as Keith Long’s side saw off Finn Harps comprehensively.
That was the fourth success over Harps this season and sets the Blues up well for Friday’s clash with Munster neighbours Cobh Ramblers.
The Blues have lost just once in the last ten league games and saw off Cobh 5-0 at home earlier in the season.
Both away ties proved a tough challenges; the Blues winning 3-1 in April before this weekend’s opponents picked up a 1-0 win in June.
Cobh Ramblers are in good form themselves, and saw off fourth-placed Athlone Town last weekend.
Cobh sit 3th in the league table. The Blues remain second, with 13 points separating the sides.
From The Dugout: Speaking ahead of Friday’s match, head coach Keith Long said:
“It was a good performance overall [v Harps], especially in the second half when we were completely dominant. We started brightly and deserved the points for the performance. Darragh [Power] did well for the goal and that gave us the half time lead which could have been more, and we added some excellent goals in the second half. Overall, it was important to get back to winning after defeat [v Athlone] in the fashion that we did.
“Cobh will prove another tough test on Friday night. They’re in good form and into the play-off spots after a good run. We need to focus on ourselves though, keep integrating the new players, continue to get minutes into the players returning from injury and look to maintain a good run leading up to the play-offs.”
Team News: Harry Nevin, Barry Baggley, Rowan McDonald and Ronan Coughlan continue to miss out through injury. Ryan Burke is suspended after an accumulation of yellow cards.
