Waterford FC make the trip to Turners Cross this Saturday for the First Division Play-Off Final against Cobh Ramblers.
The Blues will face Cobh Ramblers for the fifth time this season fighting for a place in the Promotion/Relegation Final against Cork City next weekend.
The Blues overcame Athlone Town 4-2 on aggregate last week to make the First Division Final.
With the game at 1-1 from the first leg, Romeo Akachukwu scored a second-half hat-trick to ensure the Blues progressed 4-2 on aggregate.
Opponents Cobh Ramblers beat Wexford FC 2-1 over two legs, drawing 1-1 in St Colman’s Park to progress.
The sides have met four times this season in the First Division, with both sides winning two games a piece ahead of Saturday’s clash in Turners Cross.
From The Dugout: Speaking ahead of Saturday’s match, head coach Keith Long said:
“We’re looking forward to the game [v Cobh Ramblers]. The boys are excited for the challenge and can’t wait to get down there and put in a performance.
“We’ll be looking to follow up on last week’s win with a good performance against tough opposition. We know a big performance is required.
“Cobh have had two decent wins against us so they’ll be very confident. They’re a well-organised, well-coached team with good players, so we know we have to perform produce a top level performance to try progress to the Promotion / Relegation Play-Off.
“Our fans have been brilliant and we’ve had a large travelling support with us all season, in particular last season when we needed them the most – and we know they’ll be out in numbers again to help drive us towards our goals.”
