Waterford FC:
The Blues continue their preparations ahead of the start of the 2024 League of Ireland season with the visit of Wilton United to the RSC on Friday. After returning to pre-season at the start of January, the Blues defeated Douglas Hall in the previous round of the regional competition in their first game of 2024. The Cork-based side held the Blues scoreless in ninety-minutes, before late goals in extra-time through Ben McCormack & Cameron Cresswell saw Keith Long’s side progress into the quarter-final stage.
The Blues flew out to sister-club Fleetwood Town for a week-long pre-season camp which saw the side use the state-of-the-art facilities at Poolfoot farm. Keith Long’s side played a Fleetwood Town XI in Highbury Stadium that the Cod Army came out victorious in, before the Blues defeated a Premier League U21 side 2-0 at the end of their trip.
Waterford then travelled to Dublin last Saturday for a friendly against Shelbourne, which saw new signing Pádraig Amond open his account for the Blues as Damien Duffs side prevailed on a two-goals-to-one score-line.
Keith Long has brought plenty new faces to the RSC to bolster his squad ahead of the start of the 2024 league campaign, with recent signings including Kacper Skwierczynski & Pádraig Amond along with the re-signing of fan favourite Barry Baggley on-loan from Fleetwood Town lining out in blue for 2024.
Wilton United FC:
Wilton United are based in Cork City, with their Senior side currently occupying sixth-place in the 2023/24 Munster Senior League First Division table.
