Fixture: Dundalk FC vs Waterford FC

Competition: SSE Airtricity Men’s Premier Division

Date: 15th March 2024

Venue: Oriel Park

WATERFORD FC

The Blues are on the road once more this Friday to face Dundalk FC in Oriel Park in their sixth league game of the year. After falling to defeat away to Derry City at the Ryan McBride Brandywell Stadium last Friday, the Blues face their fourth away trip of the season against Stephen O’Donnell’s Dundalk side this Friday.

Waterford have had a strong start to life back in the Premier Division, currently occupying third-place in the league table after picking up seven points points in their opening five games that included wins away to Drogheda United (4-1) & at home St. Patrick’s Athletic (3-1) – along with an opening day one-all draw against current league leaders Shelbourne.

It’s a quick turnaround for Waterford over the St. Patrick’s weekend, as the Blues host Rockmount AFC this coming Monday (18th March) at SETU Arena in their Munster Senior Cup semi-final, with tickets available on sale HERE.

DUNDALK FC

Friday’s hosts come into the game after a difficult start to the season of their own – as they sit at the bottom of the league table after four games played.

After an opening-day draw away to Shamrock Rovers, the lilywhites have fell to three consecutive defeats against Galway United (0-2), Sligo Rovers (0-5), and St. Patrick’s Athletic (0-1) last Friday.

Despite the results, Dundalk have a wealth of experience in their squad, with Andy Boyle, Daryl Horgan, Robbie Benson & John Mountney all starring for the lilywhites once more this year.

With another difficult game in-store against one of the countries most-established sides, the Blues will look to continue their good start to the season against Stephen O’Donnell’s side on Friday.

WATERFORD FC Team News:

Darragh Leahy misses the game on Friday due to suspension after receiving a red card against Derry City last week. Darragh Power (Hamstring) also misses out after picking up a first-half injury at the Brandywell last Friday.
