An extra-busy Bank Holiday weekend for our Academy teams, with our six teams all in action across eight different games that took place, with all the match details available here.

SATURDAY 4th MAY

WU17: Waterford FC 8-0 Cobh Ramblers FC

Our WU17 side continued their 100% record to their 2024 league campaign with a big win against Cobh Ramblers at SETU Arena on Saturday afternoon.

Cliodhna Malone, Keira Burke, Issy Kenna, Polly Redmond, Ellie Carroll all got on the scoresheet, along with Zara Corcoran who bagged a brace for the side that now sit at the top of their EA Sports WU17 LOI Academy Group C table with six wins from six.

MU15: Waterford FC 1-2 Wexford FC

Our MU15 fell to narrow defeat against Wexford FC on Saturday afternoon in SETU Arena. The Blues found themselves 1-0 up just before the hour-mark, when Callum Slattery finished off an excellently-worked team goal, before the visitors found the back of the net twice late on to take the points.

MU20: CK United FC 0-4 Waterford FC

Our MU20’s picked up another three points on Saturday afternoon away to CK United FC in Kilkenny, defeating the hosts by four-goals-to-nil.

Callum Costello put the Blues into the lead just before half-time, before doubling his tally early in the second-half. Midfielder Sean Keane got his name on the scoresheet on the hour mark, before Zak O’Sullivan rounded off the scoring with ten minutes remaining.

This win sees the Blues maintain 1st position in their EA Sports MU20 LOI Academy Group C table, picking up 16 points from their first seven games.

SUNDAY 5th MAY

MU17: Wexford FC 3-0 Waterford FC

Our MU17 side made the short journey to Ferrycarrig Park on Sunday afternoon to take on Wexford FC in their MU17 EA Sports LOI Academy Group C clash. Despite being in the game for long periods of time, it was the hosts who prevailed on a three-goals-to-nil scoreline.

WU19: Waterford FC 0-2 Wexford FC

Our WU19 side fell to defeat at SETU Arena on Sunday afternoon against Wexford FC, as the visitors came out on top on a two-nil scoreline.

Wexford took the lead after twenty minutes, and as the Blues looked to get back into the game, the visitors extended their lead with 15 minutes remaining to secure the points.

The Blues occupy third place in their WU19 EA Sports LOI Academy Group C table, sitting on 13 points from 8 games.

MU14: Wexford FC 2-1 Waterford FC

Our MU14s fell to a narrow defeat against Wexford FC on Sunday afternoon in their latest MU14 EA Sports LOI Academy Group D game. After falling a goal behind, the Blues deservedly got back into the game through a fantastic Cormac Lowry goal, before the hosts scored a second late-on to secure the win.

MONDAY 6th MAY

WU17: Waterford FC 5-1 Bray Wanderers FC

Our WU17’s picked up maximum points this weekend, defeating Bray Wanderers by five-goals-to-one in their second game in just three days.

Polly Redmond opened the scoring for the Blues, before the visitors equalised after twenty minutes. Issy Walsh regained the lead for the Blues, before Sarah Abullo & Cliodhna Malone got their names on the scoresheet along with Redmond netting her second as the Blues picked up another three points.

This win leaves the Blues on 21 points from seven games played in the WU17 EA Sports LOI Academy Group C.

MU20: Cobh Ramblers FC 1-4 Waterford FC

Similarly to our WU19s, our MU20s also picked up their second win of the weekend on Monday against Cobh Ramblers in St. Colman’s Park.

Callum Costello put the Blues 1-0 up after 26 minutes, before the hosts equalised through the penalty spot. Sean Keane gave the Blues the lead once more on the 36th-minute mark, before Zak O’Sullivan gave the Blues a three-one lead going into the break at half-time.

Evan Geary finished off the scoring with 18 minutes remaining to give the Blues another important three-points.
