The Blues are back on the road this Bank Holiday Monday, making the long journey up to the Ryan McBride Brandywell Stadium to take on Derry City FC in our latest SSE Airtricity Men’s Premier Division clash, and we have all the details you need ahead of the game.

Fixture: Derry City FC vs Waterford FC

Competition: SSE Airtricity Men’s Premier Division

Date: Monday 3rd June 2024

Venue: The Ryan McBride Brandywell Stadiun

Kick-off: 6:00pm

WATERFORD FC

Keith Long’s side make the journey up to the Ryan McBride Brandywell Stadium on the back of some impressive results in recent weeks – most recently a two-one win over Long’s former side Bohemian FC at the RSC on Friday night.

Christie Pattisson netted his third goal of the season – getting on the end of a Padraig Amond knock-down after just nine minutes – before the visitors levelled the scoring on the half-hour mark through Dayle Rooney. Amond turned provider to goal scorer with twenty minutes remaining to secure the points for the Blues, tapping home Pattisson’s dangerous cross from close-range, as the Blues picked up their fifth win from their last six games.

The win on Friday sees Waterford sit in fourth place in the league table on 28 points from 18 games – with two games in hand on all three clubs above them.

DERRY CITY FC

The Candystripes welcome to the Blues to the Brandywell on Monday looking for their first win in four games. After defeating St. Patrick’s Athletic 1-0 away from home in the middle of May, Ruaidhrí Higgins’ side fell to defeat against Shamrock Rovers (1-0), before picking up draws against Sligo Rovers (2-2) & Dundalk (0-0).

Derry will be looking to continue their winning streak against the Blues, having won both games against Waterford already this year (3-0 in the Brandywell in March, before a 2-0 win against the Blues at the RSC in April).

The Candystripes occupy second-place in the league table, five points behind leaders Shelbourne on 32 points after 20 games played.
