The Second Round draw for this years Sports Direct FAI Cup takes place at lunchtime tomorrow (Thursday, 6th June), at FAI HQ in Abbotstown.

The Blues enter this year’s competition at the second round stage, along with the other 19 League of Ireland teams. The other 12 places are made up of some the best junior & intermediate sides in the country.

The Blues have enjoyed their FAI Cup runs in recent years, getting to the semi-final stage in both 2021 & 2022. Bohemians defeated the Blues 1-0 thanks to a late-Georgie Kelly goal at Dalymount Park in 2021, before the Blues fell to defeat on the same score line at home to Shelbourne the following year in-font of a sold-out RSC – a game that was played in front of the RTE cameras.

Last year, Keith Long’s side defeated Tipperary junior side St. Michael’s AFC in the opening round of the competition, before falling to defeat to Cork City FC in the following round in Turners Cross.

Two-time FAI Cup winners in 1936–37 & 1979–80, the Blues will be looking to add 2024 to that list this year.
