Waterford FC are excited to announce the permanent signing of Kyle White from Fleetwood Town FC on an 18-month contract.

The 20-year-old central midfielder joins the Blues from sister-club Fleetwood Town FC having spent two-and-a-half years with the Cod Army.

An exciting box-to-box midfielder, White was rewarded with a new contract last summer after impressing in the Fleetwood academy in his first 18-months on Fylde Coast.

White is no stranger to the RSC, having played against the Blues in our friendly fixture last summer, and scoring for the Cods in the second-half in the sides first-ever meeting.

The midfielder also played against the Blues in January, as Keith Long’s side spent a week at the home of Fleetwood Town which included a friendly against a Fleetwood Town XI at Highbury.

The Darlington-born midfielder has made six appearances for the Fleetwood first-team, and now makes the move to the RSC to bolster the Blues’ midfield options as we enter an exciting second-half of the season.

Head coach Keith Long was delighted to have secured the signing of Kyle, commenting:

“Kyle is a box-to-box midfielder, with good energy that will give us balance as a left footer in that position. He played against us &  scored in the RSC last summer, and played against us in pre-season where he impressed with his work rate and output. It will take a couple of weeks for Kyle to get up to speed physically but we are looking forward to what he offers in a Blues jersey”.

Kyle was excited at the opportunity to join the Blues when he spoke to our media team:

“I’m excited to be here. I’ve been training with the group for the last few days, and watched the game on Friday against Dundalk – the lads did well; it was a good three points.

I know Barry [Baggley] & Maleace [Asamoah] from Fleetwood, and Matt Lawlor coached me while I was with the Fleetwood U21s, so I know some familiar faces already here!

I’m a forward-thinking midfielder who likes to get forward and help attacking-wise along with working hard off-the-ball to win the ball back & press”

White will wear the number 16 shirt for the Blues, with both his shirts now available for sponsorship. Contact commercial@waterfordfc.ie to find out more information.

Welcome to the Blues, Kyle!
