Our academy sides were busy in action over the weekend just gone, with all six teams involved across Saturday & Sunday – read how they all gone on below.
SATURDAY:
MU20: Waterford FC 1-2 UCD AFC
Our MU20s were in action at home to UCD AFC on Saturday afternoon in their Tier 1 phase clash, where the visitors came out on top on a two-goals-to-one scoreline.
UCD opened the scoring early on, before Zak O’Sullivan equalised for the Blues minutes before half-time. The students found the inner 14 minutes from time to bring the points back to the capital.
WU17: Treaty United FC 2-2 Waterford FC
Our WU17 side picked up a strong point on the road in Limerick on Saturday afternoon, coming from behind to share the spoils in their Tier 1 phase tie.
The hosts raced into a two-goal lead inside the opening 18 minutes, before second-half goals from Jodie Roche & Olivia Shannon rescued a point for the Blues.
MU15: CK United FC 2-0 Waterford FC
Our U15 side fell to defeat to CK United FC on Saturday afternoon in their phase 2 clash in Burrin Celtic FC.
Goals either side of half-time for the hosts were enough to see them pick up all three points against the Blues.
SUNDAY
WU19: CK United FC 0-5 Waterford FC
Our WU19 side put o a five-goal display to dispatch of CK United FC at The Watershed in Kilkenny on Sunday afternoon.
Mia Lenihan & Aoibh Thomas had the Blues two-goals ahead going into half-time, before second-half goals from Lenihan once more, along with Edo & Kearney, as the group picked up their first win of their Cup campaign.
MU17: Bray Wanderers FC 1-2 Waterford FC
Our MU17 side had a strong two-one win away to Bray Wanderers in Ballycorus on Sunday afternoon in their Tier 2 clash.
Matt Barrett opened the scoring for the Blues, before the hosts equalised early in the second-half. Fidel Pululu found the winner with twenty minutes to go to secure the win for the young Blues.
MU14: Treaty United FC 1-2 Waterford FC
Our MU14 side made it three wins our of three for our academy sides on Sunday, picking up the points in their Eddie Wallace Cup Group A clash.
In what was a frantic start to the game, the hosts opened the scoring inside the opening sixty-seconds, before the Blues levelled through Alex English in just the second minute. Kian Renwick fired home the decider on 34 minutes to secure the win for the Blues.
