Just three academy games took place over the weekend just gone, as the poor weather on Sunday forced two further games to be postponed. Check out the reports on all three games that took place below!

SATURDAY

WU17: Waterford FC 3-2 Treaty United FC

Our WU17 side maintained their fifth-place position in their League of Ireland Academy WU17 Tier One table with a win at home to Treaty United FC on Saturday afternoon. Sarah Abullo’s winner edged out the Shannonsiders in a five-goal thriller at SETU Arena, as the girls picked up their third win of their Tier One phase.

Issy Kenna put the Blues 1-0 up after just five minutes, before a quick-fire doubled mid-way through the first-half turned the momentum in favour of the visitors.

Zara Corcoran got the Blues back level just minutes later, as the sides reached the interval level – before Abullo’s deciding strike mid-way through the second-half gave the Blues all three points.

MU15: Waterford FC 4-0 Klub Kildare

Our MU15 side produced a four-goal display to secure maximum points at home to Klub Kildare on Saturday afternoon in their League of Ireland MU15 Tier Two meeting at SETU Arena.

Conor Dempsey got the Blues off to a dream start, as our number 22 opened the scoring after just four minutes. Dempsey then doubled his sides lead on the twenty-minute mark to give the Blues a strong lead.

Bobby Keoghan made it three on 27-minutes, before Harry Farrell finished the scoring in the closing minutes to give the Blues the points their performance deserves.

This win leaves the Blues in second-place in the league table, going into the final weeks of their season.

SUNDAY

MU17: Kerry FC 0-0 Waterford FC

Our MU17 side were held to a scoreless draw away to Munster rivals Kerry FC on Sunday afternoon, in what was our only academy game to take place on Sunday.

In a wind-swept Mounthawk Park, both side threatened to break the deadlock, but neither could find that important opening goal as the Blues returned home with one point to their name.

This point leaves the Blues in second-spot in their League of Ireland MU17 Tier Two table, just two points behind leaders Galway United FC.
