As the League of Ireland academy season reaches its final weeks of the season, five of our Waterford FC sides were in action over the last two days – with reports available on each game below!

SATURDAY

MU20: Waterford FC 0-6 St. Patrick’s Athletic FC

Our MU20’s fell to defeat at home to St. Patrick’s Athletic FC at SETU Arena on Saturday in their LOI Academy MU20 Tier One meeting, in what was the Blues’ final homme game of their 2024 campaign.

Our MU20’s have two games remaining in 2024, both away from home, with Drogheda United up first this Saturday (26th October), before finishing their season away to Cork City on Saturday 2nd November.

MU15: Waterford FC 6-0 Cobh Ramblers FC

Our MU15 side produced a six-goal display to see past Cobh Ramblers FC on Saturday afternoon at SETU Arena in their LOI Academy MU15 Phase 2 Tier 2 meeting.

Conor Dempsey opened the scoring on 40 minutes, before Orion Cala & Callum Slattery both netted in quick-succession to give the Blues a strong 3-0 lead after 55 minutes.

Dempsey added a second on the hour-mark, before late goals from Ben Fahy & Tiernan O’Brien saw the Blues defeat their Munster rivals by six-goals-to-nil to finish in 2nd place in the league table.

The Blues now look forward to a semi-final clash away to Dundalk FC in Oriel Park this Saturday, with kick-off set for 2pm.

SUNDAY

WU19: Waterford FC 6-1 Bray Wanderers FC

Our WU19’s rounded off their impressive regular league campaign with a strong 6-1 home win against Bray Wanderers on Sunday afternoon in SETU Arena.

Mia Lenihan’s first-minute finish set the Blues on their way, before Cliona Kearney doubled their lead just five minutes later.

Fiana Bradley added a third on 18 minutes, before Kearney added a third just after the half hour-mark.

Catheranne Fitzgerald made it five on 63, with Lenihan adding her second shortly after, before the visitors pulled one back in injury-time.

This win saw the Blues end their league campaign unbeaten at the top, going unbeaten in their 8 games (winning 7, drawing 1), as they now look forward to facing either Finn Harps or Peamount United in the quarter-final this Sunday (27th October).

MU17: CK United FC 1-3 Waterford FC

Our MU17’s finished their league campaign on Sunday afternoon with a 3-1 win away to CK United FC in their LOI Academy MU17 league meeting.

Jan Wozniak put the Blues in-front after 11 minutes, before Fortune Daniels made it two on 37.

Fidel Pululu made added a third ten minutes from time, as the hosts pulled a consolation goal back in the closing minutes.

This wins sees the Blues move up the 2nd position in the league table, with 26 points to their name from 14 games.
