Fixture: Shamrock Rovers FC vs Waterford FC
Competition: SSE Airtricity Men’s Premier Division
Date: Friday 1st November 2024
Venue: Tallaght Stadium
Kick-off: 7:45pm
WATERFORD FC
Waterford FC travel to Tallaght Stadium this Friday looking to play an important role in the destination of this years SSE Airtricity Men’s Premier Division title race, as they face second-place Shamrock Rovers FC on the final day of the Premier Division season.
A result for the Blues against the reigning champions will see the title head to Tolka Park for Shelbourne, with a win required for Stephen Bradley’s side plus results elsewhere to go in favour of the Hoops if Shamrock Rovers are to get their hands of the trophy for a fifth consecutive season.
Keith Long’s side head into the game on the back of a 1-1 draw at home to Bohemian FC last Friday night – a game that saw a 92nd minute equaliser from Sam Glenfield to snatch a point late on for the Blues in our last home game of the 2024 season.
Regardless of the result on Friday, the Blues will finish the 2024 season in seventh position in our first year back in the top flight of Irish football – currently sitting on 45 points from 35 games.
SHAMROCK ROVERS FC
Over 9,000 spectators are expected to watch from the stands in Tallaght on Friday night, as Stephen Bradley’s side go in search of making history against the Blues.
The Hoops will be wary of Waterford’s last visit to Tallaght – a 3-1 win over the Hoops at the beginning of May with Dean McMenamy & Connor Parsons getting on the scoresheet for the Blues along with an early own-goal.
Shamrock Rovers sit two points behind leaders Shelbourne FC going into Friday night’s game, with Shelbourne travelling to Derry City looking to bring the title back to Tolka Park for the first time in 18 years tomorrow.
WATERFORD FC TEAM NEWS
Keith Long is without the services of Kyle White (Hamstring) & Adam Queally (Groin) for tomorrow evening’s clash in Tallaght Stadium. Sam Glenfield (Ankle) is a doubt, after picking up a knock late on against Bohemians last week at the RSC.
