Five of our academy sides were in action over the weekend just gone – Check out how they get on below!

Saturday 2nd November

MU20: Cork City FC 3-0 Waterford FC

Our MU20 side finished off their 2024 season with a defeat away to Munster rivals Cork City FC in Bishopstown Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Two first-half goals aided by a third mid-way through the second-half saw the hosts secure the points in their league finale.

WU17: Bohemian FC 3-2 Waterford FC

Late heartbreak for our WU17s on Saturday saw Bohemian FC narrowly edge past our young Blues in a five-goal thriller

Issy Walsh levelled the scoring on the hour-mark after the hosts made the breakthrough early in the first-half. Bohemians re-took the lead four minutes later, before Cliodhna Malone netted an equaliser almost instantly to level the game once more.

As both sides looked to share the points, Bohemians took all three points in the 90th minute, as our girls were defeated for just the third time this year in their Tier One campaign.

MU15 Shield Final: Waterford FC 2-2 Bohemian FC (Waterford FC win 4-2 on pens)

Our MU15 side became our first academy side of the year to pick up silverware in their MU15 Shield Final against Bohemian FC on Saturday afternoon, defeating the Dublin side on penalties after neither side could be separated in normal time.

The Blues took the lead after 20 minutes through Callum Slattery, before Bohs netted twice in 15 minutes to give them the lead.

Bohemians looked to have seen the game out, until Julian Power netted an equaliser in the last minute of normal time for the Blues to send it to a penalty shoot-out.

Cadyn Morgan was the hero of the shootout, saving three out of five penalties for the Blues, as our MU15s took home this years MU15 Shield Trophy.

Sunday 3rd November

WU19: Waterford FC 3-0 Dundalk FC

Our WU19s secured their place into this years WU19 Shield semi-final, with a three-nil win at home to Dundalk FC in the quarter-final on Sunday afternoon in SETU Arena.

Catheranne Fitzgerald opened the scoring after just 8 minutes, before Fianna Bradley netted a second-half brace to put Waterford into the semi-finals of this years Shield.

MU14: Waterford FC 4-2 Cobh Ramblers FC

Our MU14’s picked up a 4-2 win at home to Cobh Ramblers FC on Sunday afternoon with a strong-display against their Munster rivals.

Keelan Brennan got the Blues off to the perfect start after just 2 minutes, before Temmy Gazal doubled our lead after 15 minutes.

To their credit, the visitors continued to battle and got back into the game with two goals goals mid-way through the game.

The Blues began to get back on top in the final third of the game, with Cormac Lowry & Aaron Brennan securing the points for the Blues with a goal each late on.
