Waterford FC are delighted to announce the loan-signing of Liam Roberts from Fleetwood Town FC for the 2025 SSE Airtricity Men’s Premier Division campaign.

The winger makes the move to the RSC for 2025, having spent over seven years in the Cods’ academy set up at Poolfoot Farm.
The 18-year-old impressed in pre-season last summer and through his performances for the Academy, Liam was rewarded with his First Team debut this season against Aston Villa’s Under-21s, with another call-up a month later in the 3-0 home win over Barrow in the EFL Trophy.
Roberts joined Fleetwood at the age of 11, before progressing through the academy there to sign his first professional contract with the club just last week where he signed a long-term deal with the club.
Liam made huge strides for Fleetwood’s Under-18s, first making his youth debut as an Under-15 in 2021, before contributing to their historic FA Youth Cup run in 2022/23.
Roberts now makes the move to the Blues for 2025, where he will add further depth to our attacking options.
Speaking on joining Waterford, Liam spoke of his excitement to the challenge here, commenting:
”I’m Delighted to be here it’s all happened very quick but I can’t wait to get started. I’ve heard many great things about Waterford from all the lads that have come over and back so I’m very happy to be in and around it. I’d say I’m a classic winger that likes to beat the man down the line and get a cross into the box but I’m not afraid to drive inside as well.”
Liam will wear the number 24 shirt for the Blues in 2025.
Welcome to Waterford, Liam!
