Waterford FC in the Community are delighted to have partnered with Mount Sion & the Waterford Food Bank for Mount Sion’s annual Food Drive once more for 2025.

In line with Mount Sion’s Pieta House Amber Flag movement, Waterford FC in the Community have joined with the local secondary school to support the Food Drive for the third consecutive year.

Donations are open until Friday 11th April for anyone keen on supporting this great initiative.

Colin Power (Head of Community Develeopment at Waterford FC) was delighted to get involved with Mount Sion’s Food Drive once again for 2025, commenting:

“Waterford FC in the Community are delighted to be involved for the third successive year in the Mount Sion Food Drive for Waterford Food Bank. The staff and pupils in Mount Sion CBS have always been very supportive of the work we try to do in the Community and are always happy to help in any way they can. 

Waterford Food Bank were the first official partnership for Waterford FC in the Community and we are very proud to be associated with an organisation that provides such an essential service throughout our City & beyond.”

Zoe Cuddihy, teacher at Mount Sion CBS, spoke of the importance of the Food Drive, stating:

“Mount Sion CBS Amber Flag committee are delighted to launch their 3rd annual food drive in
partnership with Waterford Food Bank and Waterford FC. The Pieta House Amber Flag initiative
aims to promote positive mental health within schools and education centres by creating safe
spaces and promoting resilience.

Evidence shows that helping others can also benefit our own
mental health and wellbeing, it can reduce stress as well as improve mood, self-esteem and
happiness.

Helping our local community is something the committee is so passionate about and we
are so grateful to have the unwavering support of Waterford FC in our aim to support the Waterford
Food Bank. We are accepting donations until the 11th of April if anyone outside of our school
community want to contribute to our collection for such a worthwhile cause.”

Karen Glancy of Waterford Food Bank are grateful of the work Mount Sion CBS do each year for the Food Bank, mentioning:

“Waterford Food Bank is a vital community resource, providing essential food support and much more to families in need throughout Waterford City. We are committed to alleviating food insecurity and empowering individuals and families to thrive.

Having the support of the community, through food drives and collections is fundamental to our ability to continuing our work. Mount Sion Secondary School, with the participating of Waterford Foot Ball Club are running such a food drive and we thank them most sincerely, on behalf of the 250+ families we support free of charge each week.”
