Waterford FC can confirm that Academy Graduates Zak O’Sullivan & Calum Costello have joined Fleetwood Town FC on loan.

Both players have progressed through the Waterford FC Academy after joining our MU13 side in 2019 Zak joining from Tramore AFC & Calum joining from Carrick United AFC.

Zak makes the move across to the Fylde Coast fresh from putting pen to paper on his first professional contract for the club, after spending the first-half of the 2025 season with our MU20 side along with training regularly with our Men’s First-Team.

O’Sullivan’s name has been present on the majority of our First-Team’s substitutes lists this season so far, having had an impressive pre-season embedding into our First-Team.

Calum Costello makes the move to Fleetwood along with Zak, after spending the last six months on loan with First Division side Bray Wanderers FC where he made a lasting impact at the Carlisle Grounds.

Costello signed a professional contract with the Blues 12 months ago, before making the move to the Wicklow club in February, where netted his first-ever senior League of Ireland goal in the Seagulls’ 1-0 win away to Kerry FC at the beginning of March.

Speaking on the two players’ moves to Fleetwood Town FC, Waterford FC Academy Manager Mike Geoghegan credited Zak & Calum’s progression, saying:

“It is great to see the boys move to Fleetwood on loan to develop their game further.  Both players will live away from home for the first time and train full time at a Category 2 Academy.

They will play at a high level in the professional development league. The group structure can provide a great development opportunity for our Academy players to progress in the professional game.”

Best of luck, lads!
