Waterford FC are excited to welcome Ronan Mansfield back to the club, after his loan spell at Fleetwood Town FC concluded at the end of June.
Mansfield joined the Cods on loan last August, where he spent time with Fleetwood’s U21 side gaining valuable experience in their Category 2 Academy set-up.
Ronan shone on the Fylde Coast, as he regularly donned the captains armband for the Cod Army in their Professional Development League campaign, before being named on the bench for Fleetwood’s EFL League Two clash away to Chesterfield FC back in April.
Ronan returned to the Blues in May directly after Fleetwood’s 2024/25 season concluded, and has trained with the first-team impressing the eye of John Coleman & Danny Ventre.
We caught up with the defender earlier this week to chat about his time across the Irish Sea & how training has been since his return:
“My time in Fleetwood was unbelievable. It was one of my best years in football and I feel like I’ve learned a lot from U21s training & matches, along with training with the first-team. I’m very grateful for the year over there and I feel like it’s kick started my football career and set me on a path now to do big things in football.
It feels great to be back involved with the Blues since I have returned. It’s been a strange period of time for me not playing games and trying to stay fit but it’s a very good group of lads and coaches, so I’m happy to be back and can’t wait to be back playing games.
Training has been very good since I’ve returned. I have enjoyed working with new faces and I’m thrilled to be back playing with some of my old teammates from the academy who are now in the first team.
I can’t wait to be back involved. it’s been hard sitting back watching for the last 6 weeks, but I can’t wait to play for my hometown club again and show people what I can do.
Mansfield will wear the number 22 shirt with the Blues for the second-half of our 2025 League of Ireland campaign.
Great to have you back, Ronan!
