Waterford FC are delighted to announce the signing of right-back Jordan Houston ahead of the close of the Winter Transfer Window.
The 26 year-old full back makes the move to the RSC this week having most recently played for FC Haka in Finland, where he spent the last 12 months for the Finnish Premier League side.
Houston is a product of the Rangers FC academy, having spent the majority of his underage career at the Glasgow club. After spending time with Rangers’ reserve side, he was rewarded with his first-team debut for the club coming on as a second-half substitute in their 3-1 Scottish League Cup clash away to Cowdenbeath in 2019.
Houston earned a loan move to Ayr United ahead of the 2019/2020 season, before signing permanently for the Scottish Championship side – a move that kept him at Ayr for over 3 years.
2023 & 2024 saw Houston have brief spells with Queen of the South & Clyde, before he made the move abroad to Finland to join FC Haka, where he made 27 appearances for the Finnish side in all competitions in 2025.
Having spent time training with the Blues at the start of pre-season, Houston now puts pen to paper on a deal with the Blues, becoming Jon Daly’s latest signing at the club.
Speaking to the club on his move to the RSC, Jordan mentioned:
“I’m delighted to be here and to be part of this club. I’m looking forward to getting myself in and meeting all the lads. I’m happy to be working with Jon and the staff this season. It’s a new challenge in a new country for me and I’m excited to get started.”
Blues Head Coach Jon Daly is looking forward to working with Jordan for the year ahead, saying:
“We’re really pleased to bring Jordan Houston to the football club. As a right-back, he gives us the balance we’re looking for in both aspects of the game.
He’s aggressive and disciplined defensively and has really good energy going forward, with excellent quality to deliver crosses into the box.
His ability to contribute at both ends of the pitch is important for how we want our full backs to play, and we’re confident he’ll adapt to our league once he’s fully up to speed.”
Jordan will wear the number 2 shirt for the Blues. Welcome to Waterford, Jordan!
